In 2010, a new idea was launched in the mission district of San Franscisco. One the guy’s at Everlane refer to as “Radical Tranparency”
“Know your factories, know your costs and always ask why. “ is their catchcry.
Everlane produces what can only be described as timeless basics. Featuring lines for both men and women, including a range of footwear and accessories. They really believe in ultimate transparency to the consumer. A global map reveals the location of each of the factories they use. Clicking on the pinpoint reveals the detail behind each factory, and when their relationship with Everlane began.
Most inspiring of all is their open book policy with regards to their pricing. Below each garment is a transparent pricing policy, detailing raw material and labour costs, transport and duties. This reveals the true cost of goods to Everlane. The retail cost set by the company is provided, as well as the cost charged by their competition for a similar garment fully exposing their profit percentage.
